Recent Report on our Worm Farms

Hello to all Hero Apartments residents!

Wormlovers carried out an inspection on Monday 10th May. The summary of their Worm Farm Maintenance Report may be of interest – shown in the following.

Generally, these worm farms are performing very well. There is a really good variety of organic matter and nearly enough paper. The food is being chopped really well with a few exceptions. Other than too much food being added for the amount of bins and the consequent need to monitor them to adjust worm farm labels (feed vs no feed) on a weekly basis, these worm farms are in very good shape. Evidence of this is the quality of the worm juice that was harvested today (55L!) and left in a tub behind the barrier to the left of the worm farms.

One of the worm farms did have some worms trying to escape and some mouldy decomposing vegetable matter. Shredded paper was added and mixed through the castings to take away some of the moisture and balance the C:N balance.
